Not far from the bustle of New York’s Times Square, has created , a rooftop lounge that is both welcoming and refined. The cityscape is a focal point, with large windows overlooking Manhattan’s skyscrapers and water towers. At night, the lighting dims so the view takes over. But even though the city dominates, the overall feel is intimate and relaxed. An entry lounge sets that tone, with walnut walls and a large fireplace. In the main bar area, a mixture of seating areas creates a space that feels like a comfortable residence. “Castell was envisioned as a warm and sexy rooftop living-room lounge,” says principal . He was inspired by the vaults and shapes of Spanish architecture, so 11-foot-high arches repeat throughout the space.
