MoMA Design Store Showcases Italian Goods at NYC Pop-Up

No plane ticket is necessary—the MoMA Design Store is hosting its debut Fattobene pop-up shop in downtown Manhattan from August 7 through September 29. Fattobene, which means "well made" in Italian, is an online archive and shop dedicated to everyday Italian objects. The pop-up will feature more than 150 objects created and made in Italy from the 1800s through the 1970s, including home accessories, kitchen and dining tools, stationary, and gifts, ranging from Gio Ponti ceramic tiles to a Spaghetti Outdoor Lounge Chair. Items also are available at the main MoMA Design Store and on its website.

The Container Store Opens Custom Closet Store in Los Angeles   

The Container Store, a "go-to" when it comes to organization, recently expanded its offerings to tackle the most troublesome space of all: the closet. The first-ever Customer Closets Store now is open in Los Angeles, signifying the brand’s increased focus on closet design. The new store strategically follows the launch of the retailer's fourth closet line, Avera, which joins Elfa Classic, Elfa Décor, and Laren lines in its portfolio.

KOHLER Expands Smart Home Portfolio  

Who doesn’t want to transform their home into a custom spa? In line with the smart-home trend, Kohler Co. introduced a voice-enabled shower system with KOHLER Konnect, which enables users to create presets for sound, water, steam, and lighting. The DVT + shower system includes eco settings to control water usage on command or by tapping the sleek wall-mounted interface. The KOHLER Konnect app offers yet another way for users to manage the 11 pre-sets for the ultimate hydrotherapy experience.

Crossville Launches Biophilic Tile Collection

Crossville, a leading creator of tile, recently launched Relax, a porcelain line that looks like natural wood. The collection, inspired by the appearance of birch, comes in four neutral hues—Chiffon, Caviar, Nutmeg, and Woolen—that pair well with any space. “Relax provides designers a beautiful and durable alternative to real wood in porcelain tile that will perform well in wet or high-traffic areas,” says Lindsey Waldren, VP of marketing at Crossville.

Alda Ly Architecture Partners with ThirdLove to Design First “Fit Experience” Store Concept

ThirdLove, an innovative online lingerie company that offers women a 60-second Fit Finder questionnaire, opened its first concept store in Manhattan on July 24. The store, designed by Alda Ly Architecture & Design, has a minimalist aesthetic that features calming tones and natural wood accents—even the dressing rooms are equipped with soft lighting. It will remain open through the end of the year at 347 West Broadway.
