Students Imagine the Airport of the Future

has held its competition for up-and-coming architects for six years running. This year, 14 teams of international design studios will offer plans for “the airport of the future.” The entries, says firm president, CEO, and principal-in-charge of design , “deconstruct existing approaches to building design, think about the ways airports sit in or next to cities, and suggest more sustainable ways to support air travel all over the world.” A jury of eight aviation and industry professionals—including, CEO of ; , former creative director of ; and , the first recipient of the Smithsonian’s —will award a first prize of $15,000 and an internship at Fentress’s Denver office, along with four secondary awards, on November 30.
